He poses a threat to women's rights and being a woman it hits home harder than it might for men and it's opened my eyes to what's really going on and what could potentially happen to our rights as women with him in office. Since the beginning of Bush's presidency he has remained faithful to his opposition of abortion. He believes that tax-payers' money should not be spent on abortion related criteria yet he supports embryonic stem cell research. Bush is also against funds towards international groups that offer abortion. He has already begun the effort of banning partial-birth abortions and reducing abortions overall in the U.S. Let's face it, there is a balance between who is pro-life and those that are pro-choice, however, with a president who favors pro-life in office it's to the advantage of one side and against the other. President Bush has supported sex education and abstinence as ways of avoiding the abortion procedure however, the youth of today can only be taught so much about the risks of pregnancy before they go crazy. Kids will be experimental and there's no way of putting limits on curiosity. We have to face the realities of our un-perfect world and understand that mistakes happen, Bush should know that he's made them, and taking away solutions to problems would be a step in the wrong direction.

Pro Choice? Pro Life? The Issue of Women's Rights Regarding Abortion

It can be agreed upon that the issue of abortion is a controversial topic that has been debated over and over again amongst politicians and activists alike. Whether or not you are pro-life or pro-choice it's hard to endure the actual weight of the decision until you're facing it yourself. Men can preach all they want about how abortion is legal murder, but being men they'll never face the fears of women who actually carry the child for nine months. Not to say that men shouldn't have a position on the issue, after all they are carrying the y-chromosome necessary for conception, but overall, it's our bodies that carry the stress of the consequences of pregnancy and child birth. In cases of teen pregnancy, rape, or simply not being responsible enough to raise a child, abortion should be an option we can rely on in cases that deem necessary. There isn't a single female that goes into the decision of abortion light-hearted and carefree. The guilt and fear women go through is hard enough as it is and they should at least be allowed to enter a Planned Parenthood without the swarms of pro-life activists screaming profanity at them and bombarding the doors. We as human beings should all be entitled to our own opinions, but when those opinions are expressed in destructive ways, the legitimacy of those opinions is sacrificed. As women should we be considerate of ourselves or considerate of our child? This is such a difficult question to answer because either way we can't have it all. But think of this, you owe it to yourself to first and foremost fend and care for your own well-being before anyone else's. Life is short which is why we should make every day count and when our rights are taken away so are our lives.

alt=/>

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://samkelly.blogspot.com/2004/11/pro-choice-pro-life-issue-of-womens.html' title='Pro Choice?
